Designed by sustainable garden designer Lynne Lambourne, our community garden combines seasonal planting, productive growing areas and places to relax.
Visitors can explore fruit and vegetable plots, wildflower areas, raised beds and accessible paths. There is also seating, space for an outdoor classroom and a dedicated allotment where the Aldingbourne team can develop gardening skills and grow fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and salads.
Sustainable materials helping gardens thrive
The project was created using Earth Cycle’s sustainable, peat-free gardening materials, demonstrating how the right soil and compost products can help turn even an empty plot into a healthy, productive garden.
Our products are made in West Sussex using recycled local green waste. By transforming this material into quality composts, soil conditioners, topsoils and mulches, we can return valuable organic matter and nutrients to gardens rather than allowing a useful resource to go to waste.
The finished garden was a true team effort. Aldingbourne Trust’s workshop team made the raised beds, its horticulture team grew vegetables, herbs and salad from seed, and specialist contractors completed the landscaping and construction.
Despite exceptionally hot summer weather making the early planting challenging, the garden was filled with healthy plants, colourful flowers and thriving vegetables in time for its opening.
We are very proud of this project, having worked extremely closely with the team at Aldingbourne Trust to bring this space to life. When we first began groundworks in May, we couldn’t have imagined how incredible the garden would look in just a few short months.

The garden is open to everyone visiting Aldingbourne Country Centre. We look forward to seeing how it grows and develops in the seasons ahead.
