Why Choose Our Decorative Bark?

Our Decorative Bark is produced from mixed conifer with a high percentage of spruce, with 90% of particles falling within the range of 8-35mm. Lay at a depth of 5-10cm for best results.

Ideal for beds and borders, paving, fencing and general mulching use.

Helps soil to retain moisture during hot weather and reduces soil erosion during heavy rain.

Moisture content is 50-60% (green weight basis) on delivery. Free of all foreign matter such as metal, glass, plastic and any other extraneous materials.

Store in a cool dry place, preferably covered and protected away from chemicals and pesticides.

How to Use in Your Garden:

  • Prepare your area by removing weeds and debris
  • Spread a layer around 4–6 cm (1.5–2.5 inches) thick across beds or borders. For paths, a deeper layer (5–8 cm) works best.
  • Leave a small gap around stems and trunks to allow airflow
  • Add a weed membrane beneath the bark to provide extra weed control
  • Add a fresh layer every 12-18 months to maintain appearance

FAQs

By laying down a layer of bark, you can prevent weed development by creating a barrier that blocks any sunlight. However, to maximise the efficiency of bark mulch, it is essential that any existing weeds be removed before laying down your bark. It’s also critical to use a thick coating of bark, ideally 2-3 inches deep, and to inspect and renew the bark layer on a regular basis.
