Another successful year at The Woodhorn Group!

Share

After bagging a hat trick of awards and launching our green waste story video it is fair to say that 2015 was an eventful year at The Woodhorn office.

2015 saw an increase in the amount of green waste recycled across the company’s two waste sites in Tangmere and Runcton.

Our Earth Cycle range achieved great success – we were delighted to see an increase in sales in our garden and landscaping products. These have been the product of choice for many projects across the country from Worthing College’s Rugby Pitch, the reconstruction of Pyecombe Golf Club’s 9th tee and the redevelopment of Station Square in Bognor Regis.

Not only that, an incredible 300 tons of Earth Cycle Rootzone was also recently used to develop a number of recreational football pitches for Fareham Borough Council.

We’ve welcomed a new bull to our herd at Woodhorn farm, who is named Lancelot, but is otherwise known as ‘Reggie’. It has been business as usual on the farm as our dairy herd continue to supply OMSCO with up to 7000 litres of milk per day for its organic milk and yoghurt products.

The highlight of 2015 had to be our three awards for sustainability and diversification. After receiving Green Business of The Year at the Observer & Gazette Business Awards in January, our MD John Pitts took home a silver award for Innovation and diversification at the British Farming Awards in October and was given the prestigious title, Sustainable Farmer of the Year, at the National Farmers Weekly Awards.

Finally as part of our continued efforts to raise awareness about green waste, we launched our garden waste recycling video last month, to show how local garden waste is turned into our nutrient-rich soil conditioners and compost.

Our green waste video will be used as an educational tool and incorporated in to our regular free school farm visits – which we are pleased to have seen go so well this year.

We have a number of exciting projects, events and campaigns planned this year including a new project with The Aldingbourne Trust that will be launched in the coming spring.

We can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!
