This week saw Mike and Sophie, from our sales and marketing team, take a trip to the NEC in Birmingham for this year’s Saltex exhibition.
The UK’s biggest event for the grounds care sector, Earth Cycle have exhibited at Saltex several times previously but not since it changed location to Birmingham. We thought we would take this opportunity to visit the event to speak to others in the industry and see how it has developed.
The main hall was filled with stands to meet a variety of needs from sports amenities, turf care and specialist machinery to landscaping, grounds care and playgrounds. There were over 280 exhibitors in total and numerous seminars offering advice on the latest products, equipment and expertise. It was great to network with likeminded businesses and visitors while we debated whether or not we should exhibit at their 2016 event.
“Exhibitions are a valuable platform for any business,” commented Mike. “At Earth Cycle we try to do a couple a year, as they are great for networking and seeing how the market is shaping with new products and innovations. It was interesting to see the revamped Saltex and it definitely was a lively show.”
We found the exhibition to be very well organised and it was easy to work our way through the crowds. There was plenty of choice for refreshments and the new central location makes it easier for both exhibitors and visitors alike. However, as much as the revamp has its benefits and can reach a wider market, it did seem slightly smaller than in previous years. Not only was the previous location of Windsor Racecourse appealing to the eye, it was also outside so allowed for exhibitors to construct demonstrations, supplying visitors with more attractions to fill their day.
Nevertheless, the revitalisation of Saltex was definitely worth experiencing. There was a lively atmosphere and it certainly was busy. When it comes to 2016 we will just have to wait and see, but for now we look forward to exhibiting at Futurescape on November 17th.
