This year’s National Allotment Week falls between the 8th-14th August and the theme is ‘Growing together’. The annual initiative highlights the importance of protecting plots for future generations as well as the communities that evolve through gardening in a shared space.
This is one cause that is close to our heart – we feel passionate about working together as a community, particularly when it involves being green-fingered so we have co-ordinated lots of activities to celebrate.
With the help of local allotment holders and experts, we are going to be publishing a series of allotment-themed guides and stories throughout the week to celebrate the increasing popularity of this community resource and the dedicated allotment holders in and around our local area. We will also have guest blogs from local food writer, Rosemary Moon; Director of Brinsbury Campus, Steve Millam; Chichester Organic Gardening Society as well as nutritional advice from Chichester Wellbeing.
We will also be giving you the chance to win a free bulk bag of our peat-free Soil Conditioner to use in your allotment. The competition will start at the beginning of National Allotment Week on the 8th August. To win all you need to do is send us a snap of your allotment using the hashtag #ECAllotmentWeek and the winner will be announced at the end of the week!
We look forward to seeing your pictures!
