Compost is a vital part of a healthy garden, it is an eco-friendly way to inject much needed nutrients back into the ground aiding plant growth and improving soil structure.
Our green waste derived organic compost is compliant to PAS100 standard and certified for use in organic systems by OF&G, providing the nutrients your soil needs for plants to flourish.
Earth Cycle composts are soil amendments and not intended for planting directly into as a growing medium
All of our peat-free organic compost soil conditioners enhance moisture retention in soil, leading to improved drought resistance. This means that more moisture is available for your plants and vegetables during dry periods, which is critical for them to grow.
These products are ideal to use as a year-round garden compost or for any horticultural needs. Soil fertility is improved by adding vital humus and plant nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphate, potash and trace elements, encouraging healthy plant growth. These nutrients are released over many weeks as the peat free compost breaks down naturally in the soil. With this natural slow-release strong root growth, flowering and fruiting is sustained and foliage is kept green and healthy. This also leads to healthy soil microbial activity and micronutrients that in turn helps to naturally suppress plant disease. Drainage and aeration is improved in heavy clay soils and body is added to light sandy soils, making your soil easier to work with.
Cow Compost
Our Cow Compost is a nutrient-dense soil conditioner based on composted cow manure from our own award-winning organic dairy herd. This particular compost is perfect for vigorous root, shoot and bud growth for sprouting roses, organics such as vegetables or fruit and herbaceous borders.
Mushroom Compost
Earth Cycle’s Spent Mushroom Compost is a slow-release nourishing fertiliser which provides high levels of phosphate, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Mushroom Compost is particularly good for growing brassicas plants due to its slightly alkaline properties.
Fine Composted Bark
Earth Cycle's Fine Composted Bark is produced from 100% British mixed conifer bark with a high percentage of spruce, it can be used as a single-season ornamental mulch or as a soil conditioner.
No Dig Compost
Earth Cycle's No Dig Compost is specifically designed for use in creating new beds using the no-dig gardening method. Composted fine bark and coir are the core ingredients of this Peat-Free growing medium, complemented by a slow-release fertilizer resistant to leeching and lasting for up to 12 weeks without scorching young or fragile plants.
Potting Compost
Earth Cycle’s Potting Composthas been specially formulated for potting and sowing seeds and young plants. As a result of a combination of composted fine bark and coir, this Peat-Free growing medium is resistant to leeching and can last up to 12 weeks. It will not scorch young or delicate plants and can be used to grow seedlings in pots in your garden or on your allotment.
Other Composts
Our other multi-purpose organic compost products are based on composted plant material produced at our green waste recycling centre. Perfect for your planted vegetables, seeds, beds and borders or just your general gardening needs. It can lighten clay soils and improve the structure of light soils, enhances water retention, and reduces loss of nutrients.
Compost Mulch
Our Compost Mulch is screened to 25mm, making it a compact and a thicker product compared to the others. This can be used as a soil conditioner, but is also ideal as a weed suppressor as it does contain sections of bark and twiggy elements.
Our products are delivered in convenient 1 cubic metre bulk bags, but can also be delivered loose in certain locations.
What is the best compost for indoor plants?
Potting compost is an excellent general compost that is a specifically formulated growing medium intended to provide plants with the nutrients and physical support they require to develop and flourish.
Should I use mulches or compost?
Use compost if you want to boost the growth of your plants, get more blossoms on your flowers, or produce additional nutrition for your plants. Use mulch if you want to reduce weed development, manage run-off, and keep soil wet.
